This is the Second marker on the Riverside park walk.

EVERY MOVEMENT MATTERS

If you have clicked on to this site, you have walked around 1080 steps from the start. If you walked that same number of steps every week for a year, you would walk nearly 32 miles and use over 2800 calories.*

Why not try to get to the next marker?

*Based on 1 step = 1 yard and the average person uses 1 calorie for every 20 steps

ABOUT THE RIVERSIDE WALK

The Walk includes wildflower meadows, woodland and hedgerows and is constantly managed to encourage more wildlife.

Look out for butterflies, birds and bats as you take your walk.

HEALTH NEWS

Creating an Active Summertime

The arrival of Summer with its longer days and sunny weather will encourage those who do little physical activity to get out more.

This is the perfect moment to undertake Local Park Walks by sharing a standing conversation or a park walk and rebuild our physical and mental wellbeing after the past restrictions of the pandemic.

SMALL STEPS, BIG GAINS OVER TIME

There are a total of nine Local Park Walks. There are four in Aylesbury and 5 in Wycombe.

The shortest of the nine Local Park Walks is just 240 steps. It will take 5 or 6 minutes to complete.

Now let’s suppose you were able to walk this distance every day for a year and each step is a yard. In a single year you would walk nearly 50 miles a year!

If you don’t fancy a walk, then stand more. Standing 3 hours a day of a working week that you would normally sit down and you could burn over 10 marathon’s worth of calories!

Active Park Walks – part of your new Active Community

Sit less, stand often and move more. These small changes to everyday can make a difference to your long-term health.
