This is the Third marker on the Riverside park walk.
EVERY MOVEMENT MATTERS
If you have clicked on to this site, you have walked around 2080 steps from the start. If you walked that same number of steps every week for a year, you would walk nearly 61 miles and use over 5400 calories.*
Why not try to get to the next marker?
*Based on 1 step = 1 yard and the average person uses 1 calorie for every 20 steps
ABOUT THE RIVERSIDE WALK
The Black Poplar is one of Britain’s rarest trees but has a stronghold in the area.
The trees are male (with red catkins) or female (with green catkins) in the Spring.

Creating an Active Summertime
At the same time, it is important to remember to protect yourself.
Children and adults should wear proper sun protection, especially when the sun is at its strongest between 11am and 3pm. Spend a little more time in the shade during these times and check for burning.
Use at least factor 30 sunscreen.
SMALL STEPS, BIG GAINS OVER TIME
The numbers get really amazing if we are all active together!
If just 250 residents walked 500 steps every day of a year, their combined walk would take you around the world.
And if 100 residents walked just 204 steps once a week for a year, their combined walk would get them from Lands End to John O’Groats.
Or if a family of four walked just 370 paces in total for each day of the year, they would go through the Eurotunnel to France and back again 10 times!
