Active Bucks

The Active Bucks project aspires to help all Bucks residents lead happier, healthier lives.

Too few of us are doing enough physical activity to benefit our health. This means we’re missing out on all the other benefits being active can bring, such as reducing our risk of disease and disability, becoming more independent, connecting with other local people, our communities, and improving our mental wellbeing.

The Active Bucks project will support more people to get more active, more often - with a particular focus on reducing the number of inactive people across the county.

Most importantly you don't need to take up a sport or join a gym; any activity which makes you breathe faster and feel warmer, even activities such as gardening and housework, make a great contribution to your daily activity levels.

Active Bucks in Waddesdon

After weeks of build-up it was all go for the Waddesdon and Haddenham Community Day on Saturday 12 September, which included the official launch of the inspirational Active Bucks programme.

Over 35 sports and activity providers showcased everything from gentle exercise including Tai Chi through to Touch Rugby. They were joined by over 400 walkers and many other residents to enjoy an action packed day.

People had the opportunity to watch or give it a go and some of the more popular activities included demonstrations from wheelchair basketball and tennis teams.

There was also a Zorbing area which was a massive hit with the kids.

Further launch events are planned to take place across the County in Spring 2016. More information about these will follow early next year.

However don’t miss out on the fun, get involved and inspire others in your community to be more active by becoming a community champion
