Assessment and cost
You can contact care providers directly if you are happy to make your own arrangements to pay for residential or nursing care.
You could arrange a period of respite or short-term care so you can find more information about the care offered in a particular home and whether this is suitable for your needs
If you would like to look at the possibility of council funding, an assessment of your needs will take place, followed by a financial assessment to look at your ability to pay for your care. You are entitled to an assessment even if you are likely to be paying the full cost of your care.
Charging Policy for Residential Services’
The Charging Policy for Residential Services details the financial assessment criteria used to determine whether someone's circumstances entitle them to financial support from the County Council towards the cost of their care. The Charging Policy for Residential Services also sets out the conditions under which the Council will make a loan to a person with property assets under a deferred payment agreement for the purpose of paying for their residential or nursing accommodation.
