What is Dignity?

Whether it’s you or someone you look after who receives care and support services at home, in hospital or in a residential/nursing home, you have a right to be treated with dignity and respect and Bucks County council seek to ensure our services are underpinned by these core values.

Dignity is concerned with how people feel, think and behave in relation to the worth or value of themselves and others. To treat someone with dignity is to treat them as being of worth in a way that is respectful of them as valued individuals. 

When dignity is present people feel in control, valued and confident as well as comfortable and able to make decisions.

Over the last six years we have celebrated dignity in care In Buckinghamshire through our Dignity and Respect Awards which continue to be popular and appreciated.

Our vision for Buckinghamshire is to ensure it continues to be a great place to work and live for many years to come and dignified care plays a bit part in this.

If we are to safeguard our vulnerable and create communities that can thrive and work together then we can provide ourresidents with services that are efficient and meaningful.
