Grow It, Cook It, Eat It

Back

May 2022 & June 2022

The weather was relatively kind for us during the period.

We got stuck into the digging, weeding, and up keeping of the plot.

B cleared a very big area with the mattock which is his chosen tool.

We had to get him to fine tune his techniques to save energy and maximum efficiency. Therefore, the tool never went above his head as in the earlier versions of pure dedication.

His brother A kept his eye on his good work and did a great job on the composting and the surrounding area.

The raspberry and blackberry canes were bought into action with fine weeding and care from the younger members of the team, who had the time and dexterity to give the TLC needed.

The watering was done twice a week in the 2 months, there was very little rain so the effort was needed to give the crops the help they needed, especially the potatoes and broad beans (which we picked in mid-June).

N dedicated his time to keep the apple pear and cherry trees in good shape, especially as they are now getting fruits a generous round of fertiliser was applied in early June.

Under beans were staked and set up in early June.

We harvested many crops including Onions, garlic, shallots, raspberries (early crop), spring onions, sage, fennel, mint and many broad beans.

We cleaned up the gooseberry plants and put some straw and boneless around them.

We had an unfortunate situation where the garden shed was broken into for the 2nd occasion in recent times. N replaced locks and added extra security.

We meet every Saturday as early as possible, to get the maximum benefit of our time, effort, and dedication.

We include pictures to give an insight into the brilliant work being done by the team .

Thank You!!
