Buckinghamshire Integrated Sensory Service

We work in partnership with BucksVision to offer an integrated service to children, young people and adults in Buckinghamshire with hearing, sight or dual sensory loss. This service is called Buckinghamshire Integrated Sensory Service (BISS).

If you live in Buckinghamshire, BucksVision offers a range of services to support you with your sensory loss. A holistic assessment at home is offered, which will focus on your sight, hearing or dual sensory needs. However, other needs and issues identified will be discussed and information and advice offered to work towards meeting any additional needs or personal goals.

Other services offered include:

  • Registration of hearing and/or sight loss
  • Support to develop daily living skills
  • Equipment allocation, demonstration or advice to assist with daily living
  • Mobility training to assist with independent travel - to and from school or work, or to access local activities or resources.
  • Mobility training and support to children and young people in school in order to encourage safe mobilisation and participation in all activities.
  • Advice and information on your hearing, sight or dual sensory loss
  • Communication clubs for families of Deaf children via our partners Young Deaf Activities, as well as other activity groups offered by YDA for families and children/young people.
  • Support to assist you to access activities within your local community
  • Referral or signposting to other appropriate services
